Many businesses come to us asking for a website or a brochure. What often happens is that we step back and see a deeper need: the brand itself isn’t working as hard as it should.
An outdated logo, a name that doesn’t quite connect, or marketing pieces that look like they came from three different companies. These are signs the brand and/or look needs attention. That’s where rebranding becomes part of the conversation. By rebuilding the foundation of a business with a clear name, a strong logo, and a unified style, we make sure every piece – digital or print – tells the same story and connects with the right audience.
While rebranding your business isn’t always a need, sometimes there’s a clear opportunity to do more business simply by presenting your business a little more clearly. At Little Mountain Printing, that could be as simple as a new logo to throw on your new business cards, or it could be a deeper rebranding effort with one of our comprehensive rebranding and design packages.
When Is It Time to Rebrand?
These are some of the more common reasons our customers ask about a rebrand (or we propose the idea):
- An outdated look: your look feels stuck in another decade and doesn’t represent who you are today.
- Customer confusion: customers seem unsure of what you actually do or why they should choose you. This is probably the single biggest reason to rebrand, and the number one thing holding some businesses back.
- A lack of continuity: you’re using one style of font in ads, another on the website, and something else entirely on print pieces.
- Competition: competitors look sharper and more professional, pulling attention away from you.
- Changes as you’ve grown: your company has grown, added services, or shifted focus, but your brand hasn’t kept pace.
Rebranding Isn’t Always About the Website, But It’s Often The Jumping Off Point
Newer businesses often show up asking us for a website. A website is, after all, one of the first things any new business needs to get found by customers online. But sometimes, it’s a good opportunity for us to pause and ask: does your name and logo actually give you a solid foundation? If the basics aren’t strong, the best website in the world won’t hold up.
Many of our website projects end up expanding into full logo and branding work, because once the gaps are clear, clients see the value in doing it right from the start. Plus, now is the time, before more money is spent on marketing that may not get you as far as you’d like.
Rebranding might be as expansive as a new name, but more often the work is in solidifying the look and brand messaging: a new logo, a new tagline, etc.
Naming Is the First Step Toward a Cohesive Brand
A strong name gives clarity and direction. Clever names might be fun, but clear names win.
While a name can do some heavy lifting, a tagline can carry a ton of extra weight if the name doesn’t do all the explaining. And once the name is in place, everything else in the brand can take shape with confidence.
Donald Miller of the StoryBrand marketing framework explains this well with two examples.
Consider a salon called “Local Honey”. Fun, catchy name, but the name alone doesn’t explain the business. Is it an apiary that sells honey? Are they wholesalers, or retailers?
They add a tagline: “We do hair. We do nails.” Not only does it work well because it’s bit “on the nose”, but it also serves as a wink-and-a-nod to the fact that their brand name isn’t clear about what they do!
Clear, simple, and no guesswork.
Consider Joe’s Plumbing. Alone, it’s clear what they do, but is there anything here that sets them apart in a world of dozens of plumbers? Would anyone remember their trucks whizzing by on the highway?
But just adding this tagline allows Joe’s Plumbing to tell a totally new story: “We’re always on time or your money back.” Wow! That’s a bold claim, and one that any customer should be glad to take them up on! Either they’re on-time (and everyone knows that’s a struggle with service providers), or you get your money back.
These are examples we want to think through with our clients: how do we help your business stand out from the pack and get chosen by your ideal customer.
Logos, Colors, and A Standardized “Story” Come Next
After naming, the logo becomes the mark people recognize instantly.
Fonts and colors carry personality – bold, refined, energetic, trustworthy – and shape how your business feels at first glance.
We suggest creating a styleguide that ties these choices together. Whether you’re making a website, brochure, or business card, the look stays consistent.
This story is more than visuals. It’s the way your brand talks, how it shows up, and the experience customers have across every touchpoint.
One of the things we often work to revise with clients are existing logos that feature pictures. Pictures in logos are hard to make work well, and often the intent or story behind the photo – maybe the home farm, or grandpa’s original work truck – is lost in translation.

Why Businesses Choose a Full Marketing Package from LMP
What sets us apart from many marketing companies is that we do so much in-house. We were a print shop first, and today we do all of the top print materials any business might need under one roof, plus we do digital marketing and website work right here.
Why not work with a team who can handle all of your other needs, too?
Keeping all of it under one roof saves time and keeps the message consistent. Many agencies stop at digital handoffs…we also produce the physical side—catalogs, brochures, mailers, and more—so the brand you see online matches what you hold in your hand. That consistency builds trust and helps customers remember you and the work you provided.
